File Extension PPS

PPS stands for Microsoft PowerPoint SlideShow. Usually PowerPoint presentations are saved as a PPT (PowerPoint Presentation) files. The problem with it is when you double click on PPT file it opens in a PowerPoint edit mode which will show all complex PowerPoint interface. In order to start the presentation you will have to select "Start Presentation" menu option or press F5.

This could be quite confusing for some people not familiar with PowerPoint. That is why PPS extension was introduced. By saving files in this format you can deliver them to your clients in a form which is much easier to view and looks more professional.

This format is especially useful when you want to deliver your presentation via internet. If user computer configured properly PPS files will open not in a separate PowerPoint application but right inside the browser window which is very comfortable to view.

This extension was used up to PowerPoint 2007 but in newer versions it was replaced by PPTX. PPTX is part of Office Open XML file format which is free and open international standard.
